Hello, and thank you for visiting our 2024-2025 Back to School web page! At Roosevelt Elementary School, our mission is to stay “collectively committed to educating students in a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment.” We are the Roosevelt Tigers, and our mascot’s name is Pawz! We look forward to welcoming all our new and returning Roosevelt Tigers this upcoming school year! After reviewing the information provided, please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming you back this fall!
Summer Hours:
Our school building will be closed for the majority of the summer with staff returning in late August. If you have questions before that time, please feel free to contact Principal Ben Dallman at (715) 852-4710 or bdallman@ecasd.us. He will be available to meet with you by appointment.
Enrollment Information:
If you are new to Roosevelt, we cannot wait to welcome you to our Tiger family! We encourage you to enroll your student with us as soon as possible. Please visit the following link to learn more about how to enroll: How to Enroll in the ECASD Once enrolled, you will receive additional information regarding the coming year. We are excited to have you at Roosevelt Elementary!
Teacher Assignment:
All Roosevelt families will receive our welcome back letter in early August. This will contain important information about our Welcome Back Day on Tuesday, September 3 and upcoming school year, as well as your child’s assigned classroom teacher.
First Day of School:
The first official day of school is Tuesday, September 3, 2024. This day is known as Welcome Back Day. All families will need to come to school on this day, as it is very important for all students to get set up for the first full day of school. On September 3, your visit will last approximately 30-45 minutes. While at school you will have a chance to complete all necessary paperwork for the school year, add money to lunch accounts, drop off medication, place supplies in your child’s classroom, and meet with the teacher. Your student should visit with you during this time; however, he/she will not remain at school for the duration of the day. Students in grades 1-5 will attend for the first full day on Wednesday, September 4.
Kindergarten Important Information:
Families with incoming Kindergarten students are invited to join us for our Kindergarten Round-Up orientation meeting on Monday, August 19 from 4:00-5:00pm! This is a great time for all new and returning families to join us for kindergarten specific information/updates, ask questions, meet teachers, and tour our building! A mailing will be sent to kindergarten families in late June and again in early August.
Kindergarten students will experience a smooth transition into elementary school by developing a positive relationship with their classroom teacher, learning expectations, and practicing daily routines in a small group setting. To help make this happen, we will be dividing our kindergarten classrooms in half to allow for a smaller teacher to student ratio during their first day of instruction. Half of our students from each kindergarten classroom will attend all day on Wednesday, September 4 (last names beginning with A-K) with the other half of our students attending all day on Thursday, September 5 (last names beginning with L-Z). On Friday, September 6, all kindergarten students will attend together with their entire class. Specific information regarding when your kindergarten student will attend will be mailed to you in early July and again in early August.
Welcome Back Day Hours and Schedule:
Welcome Back Day is an important day for every Roosevelt student and their family to attend! This is the best time for your child to get setup for success and prepared for their new school year. It is also a great opportunity for you and your child to meet the people who will be investing their time, energy, and expertise caring for your child throughout the school year. We are blessed to have a tremendous group of highly dedicated staff members who are ready to get started!
Please join us on Tuesday, September 3 between 8:00–11:30am or 1:00-4:30pm. Staff members will only be able to assist you during that time frame.
Families with a kindergarten student should plan to attend with their child during one of the four options listed below:
8:00-9:00am 1:00-2:00pm
10:00-11:00am 3:00-4:00pm
- Your visit will last approximately 30-60 minutes.
- Visit your child’s classroom to meet their teacher, drop off school supplies, gather school information, ask questions, etc.
- Meet our Music, Art, Physical Education, Library Media Specialist, and support staff members who will also be working with your child.
- Complete lunch forms and add lunch money to your child’s account.
- Complete medication forms and drop off medication in the office (if needed).

School Supply Information:
The Eau Claire Area School District has a unified supply list for all elementary schools, which can be found here: 2024-2025 School Supply Lists
Food and Nutrition Information:
You may make your first payment in the cafeteria on Welcome Back Day. Checks can be made out to the Food and Nutrition Program. You can also add money to your child’s account through MySchoolBucks. The 2023-24 school lunch prices are available here:
Eau Claire Area School District Food and Nutrition
Students have the choice to purchase breakfast and lunch at school or pack their own cold lunch from home. Families may also qualify for free or reduced meal pricing. If you believe you may qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please complete the short application found here: www.myschoolapps.com. These applications are critical because they help the Eau Claire Area School District receive funding for many school programs. New applications are required every year unless your family received a letter from the ECASD Food and Nutrition Department stating that you do not need to complete an application this school year.
If your child will not be eating school meals and bring food from home, please ensure they are packing nutritious options to choose from instead of candy and other junk food. When choosing a beverage to pack, please make sure the beverage is non-carbonated and non-caffeinated. Students who bring carbonated or caffeinated beverages with their meal will be asked to return them to their lockers to take home, with cold water as an available option to them.
Health & Medication Information:
If your child requires medication to be administered by school staff, please be sure to complete the appropriate forms. These are available in the school office and on the district website, located here: https://www.ecasd.us/District/Departments/School-Nurses Please remember that all medication containers must be labeled to match the doctor’s orders that are indicated on the forms. We are unable to dispense any medications until the above procedures are followed.
Busing Information:
Buses will run at their normal schedule beginning on Tuesday, September 5, but please be aware that the routes often take a bit longer to start the year. Because of this your child(ren) could be arriving home a bit later than expected the first few days of school. If you have specific questions about bus routes, please call Student Transit directly at (715) 839-5116.
Before and After School Care Options:
Before and after school care is available through Grace School Age Child Care (on-site between Roosevelt/Lakeshore Elementary). To enroll in this service please contact them at (715) 832-3039.
Helpful Hints for the First Full Day of School:
Student Arrival: Students will line up at the 8:30am bell with their classmates at their designated area near the playground before school. This also includes students who finish eating breakfast before 8:30am. Students should look for the orange cone with a sign indicating their grade-level and the first initial of their classroom teacher’s last name (1B, 2G, 3D, etc.).
Classroom teachers will be outside to greet their students and escort them into the building as soon as their group is ready.
- Breakfast is served daily between 8:15-8:30am.
- Playground supervision begins at 8:20am.
- Students should not be on our playground prior to 8:20am unless accompanied by their parent or guardian for safety reasons.
- Students riding the bus to school will arrive at 8:20am with the option to eat breakfast (if they have not already) or play on the playground until 8:30am.
- Students will enter the building to begin their school day between 8:30-8:35am.
- If inclement weather, students will be invited into the building as soon as they arrive beginning at 8:15am.
Student Dismissal: Students will be dismissed at 3:35pm each day. School staff will help direct students according to the after-school plan written on their communication folders (bus, parent pick-up, walking, biking, after-school-care, etc.). Thank you for updating and communicating your plan with your child and their classroom teacher each day.
After-school pick-up: Students in grades K-2 will remain with their classroom teacher near door #7 on the backside of our building. Families will need to park their vehicles on Folsom or Eighth Street to meet their child at door #7. For our older students (grades 3-5), please identify a consistent meeting location with your child that is near our playground prior to the first day of school. Also, please encourage your child to use the crosswalk with crossing guard whenever you are parked on the opposite side of the street unless you are walking alongside them. Please DO NOT signal your child to run across the street without your assistance.
Students walking or biking: All streets surrounding Roosevelt Elementary are very busy with vehicles occasionally traveling at high speeds. Please stress the importance of using cross walks with crossing guards, when possible, instead of taking short cuts.
We look forward to welcoming you to Roosevelt Elementary School this fall! Go Tigers!
